No. Opening a room creates an anonymous account for you with a generated stage name and no email address. If you want to keep your scores and clips for good, register later and everything carries over.

No. Spiffyk runs in a current browser on a laptop, desktop or phone. You need a microphone, and headphones help: they stop the music leaking back into your mic.

Almost anything. Search for a title or artist, paste a link, or upload an audio file you have the right to use. The first time anyone sings a song we prepare it — separating the vocal and timing the lyrics — and after that it is ready straight away.

Send them the room's link. Opening it puts them in the room on camera and mic, on the same song as everyone else. They don't need an account either.

Singing in someone else's room is always free. Rooms run on minutes of room time, charged to whoever opened the room. New singers get free minutes to start, registered accounts can claim a free allowance every month, and more time comes in packs starting at a couple of dollars for a couple of hours. Nothing renews on its own.

No. Live video and voice travel directly between the browsers in a room wherever the network allows, and are never stored. The only thing ever saved is a clip someone in the room deliberately records.

You choose. A take kept to the room is visible only to the people who were in it. A take shared to the feed gets a public page that anyone can watch, share and find — that is what makes it postable. You can move a take back to the room or delete it whenever you like.

Spiffyk listens to your voice as you sing and compares its pitch with the original melody, line by line. The closer you track the tune, the higher the percentage. It rewards staying on key, not volume.

Yes. Turn your camera off, or pick a 3D avatar or neon filter. It copies your expressions as you move, so the room still sees you react without seeing your room.
