About Spiffyk

The best karaoke happens in a tiny room with your friends at 2am. The worst is scrolling a catalogue of sound-alike covers to find that the song you wanted isn't in it. Spiffyk is an attempt to keep the first and lose the second — for friends in the same flat or on different continents.

So it works with the song you actually want. Name it, and we take the original singer out of the real recording, match the lyrics to it word by word, and put everyone in the room on the same second of it. There is no app to install and no account to create before you can sing.

A few things we hold ourselves to:

• Your room stays yours. Live video and voice go directly between browsers and are never recorded. The only thing we store is a clip someone chose to record.
• You choose how far a take travels. Keep it to the room, or share it to the feed where anyone can watch it on the public shelf.
• Priced like a jukebox. Guests sing free, the host's room runs on minutes, and a couple of dollars covers an evening. Nothing renews behind your back.
• Camera optional. 3D avatars and filters mean you can sing without showing your face or your room.
